Assessing the Risks and Benefits of Open Data

(Alice Xiang) #1

As part of the Yale Law School Open Government Clinic, we are helping nonprofits and governments better manage open data initiatives through the development of a tool to assess and mitigate risk. So that we can make this tool most useful, we want your input!

How do you evaluate the potential risks for an open data initiative? If you have a checklist, please share! Also, what are some examples of these risks coming to fruition? Are there horror stories you’ve heard of? On the other hand, what would you say are the risks of not making your data more open?
